On September the 9th, a new and exciting trial for 14 local producers will begin. The producers, who are all from, and produce food and drink in the county of Conwy, will team up and work together for 4 months to highlight, showcase and sell their produce.

Through working with Conwy County Borough Council, and Communities First, the producers will take over a shop in the town centre from September, through to December, initially opening two days every week.

Every Friday and Saturday customers to the shop will be able to buy meat, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, cooking oils, beer, bread, cakes, biscuits, gin, eggs, and other food in doing so, support the local economy.

During the 4 month trial, local restaurants and hotels will also be invited to come and meet the producers and taste the food in a bid to encourage more local produce to be sold in local eateries.
One of the producers taking part in the project is Anthony Griffiths from the Llanrwst based Scilicorns Bakery who said “this is a fantastic opportunity for us as local producers to work together to highlight the quality of the food that we can produce here in Conwy”

Cllr Dilwyn Roberts, leader of the council who will officially open the shop on Friday praised this initiative and says everyone should be encouraged to support local shops and local producers wherever, and whenever they can, and by doing so, we celebrate the high quality foods that are produced here in the county of Conwy.

All the producers are members of the Conwy food forum.
